#crying in the back #pew – v2 #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #salvation #calling #purpose #church

entering the church’s doors,
returning to my faith
of my childhood, of my spirit,
confessing my brokenness
crying in the back pew
at my rock bottom…
my charade utterly shattered,
falling into prayer, anguish,
admitting I am broken after many years…
I need You alone, oh God…
 
crying in the back pew
my shame, my guilt overwhelming,
so many years in the wilderness,
lost in the world, in the flesh,
wanting what I wanted,
taking what wasn’t mine,
seeking an unmet need,
what I was missing, empty,
but not turning to You alone,
my Savior and my God…
 
You offered me peace, welcome,
You brought me back to my faith,
to a community, a place of belonging,
my trust in You manifest, rising,
a kernel, a spark within me,
a sense of calling, of purpose,
to be a servant, and empty
giving my life, my will over
to You, my Father, my God,
but needing to do this again…
